Introducing the Confraternity of the Most Holy Eucharist

As we approach the end of the year dedicated to the Blessed Sacrament, we are happy to announce the establishment of a new confraternity in the Cathedral parish.  Members of the Confraternity of the Most Holy Eucharist will dedicate themselves to honouring the True Presence of Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament through a few simple practices, and will benefit from a monthly Mass offered for their intentions, from periodic days of recollection, and from a deeper love for the Holy Eucharist!  Membership is voluntary commitment, and anyone may join.

In addition to the regular obligation of Catholics to participate in Holy Mass on Sunday, members will be invited to

  • Pray each day the prayer ‘A Short visit to the Blessed Sacrament’ of Bl. John Henry Newman
  • Spend one hour a week in Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament
  • Attend a monthly Holy Hour with Benediction offered for the confraternity on the second Sunday of each month at 4:30pm. This Holy Hour will include a brief meditation of the Holy Eucharist.
  • Participate annually in a vigil of prayer before the Blessed Sacrament on the eve of Corpus Christi, and help with the preparations for the celebration of the Solemnity

To inaugurate the confraternity, Bishop Davies will offer the first Holy Hour with Benediction and a meditation on the Blessed Sacrament at 4:30pm on Sunday, November 25th in the Cathedral. More information will be available then, along with an opportunity to sign up.
